The same heartbreak as mentioned above made me flee from Bombay. Escaping to another coastal city, Chennai, took me back to childhood days and clean beaches–moments and memories that should have nothing to do with the love I lost in Bombay. And still, it followed me. These poems witness the inescapable persistence of heartache, one that stubbornly sticks even during self-imposed exiles. All the while observing the political, cultural, social fabric of Stalin’s 2025 Chennai.
A collection of verse that combine sound and visual poetry, resulting in these thirteen pages! It began by my focusing on really small sounds around me – coffee dripping, bees buzzing, bones cracking – and ended with my obsession turning into these small poems.

There is so much said about female friendships and their importance over heteronormative relationships (cut to Sex And The City’s quote “Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with”), but a recently devastating heartbreak made me interrogate what this looks like on a day-to-day basis. Not just those motivational posters or corporate feminist taglines, which are all just pseudo-progressive marketing techniques without any real meaning. For me, my female friends have been my coven of safety, my haven of love during the darkest days. It is with their handholding that I got through a broken heart and come out patched up.
